Where is Windsor Castle?

Unlike many of the Royal Collection Trust properties, the castle is not in central London, but if you're looking for day trips from London by train, you can easily get the train from Paddington to Windsor & Eton Central via Slough, or from Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside. (Both options come in at under one hour, with the Paddington option taking roughly 30 minutes if the connection is right.)

Windsor Castle is open to visitors Thursday to Monday, and is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with opening times that vary by season:

• March to October: open 10:00 to 17:15 (last admission/gates close at 16:00)
• November to February: open 10:00 to 16:15 (last admission/gates close at 15:00).
• As a working royal palace, the castle can close at short notice for state occasions or official functions, so check timings on the Royal Collection Trust website.
• St George's Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays.

The Royal Mews, Buckingham Palace
