We're delighted to announce that 30 new attractions and events across the UK have joined the National Disability Card scheme, making it easier than ever for disabled people to access carer tickets and concessions. The latest additions include some of the UK's most recognised visitor destinations and events, including London Zoo, Alexandra Palace, Blenheim Palace, Churchill War Rooms and Royal Collection Trust venues.
These new partnerships strengthen one of the National Disability Card's most valued benefits: to make amazing days out smoother by providing a simple, recognised way for disabled people to demonstrate eligibility for companion tickets, concessions and other accessibility adjustments.
Alice Bennett, Accessibility Champion Lead at Blenheim Palace, said,
“At Blenheim Palace, we’re proud to support the National Disability Card and the important work it does in helping people access services, experiences, and opportunities with greater confidence and ease."
She continues, 'We believe everyone should feel welcome, valued, and included when visiting our site. The National Disability Card helps us better understand and support the needs of our guests, creating a more accessible and enjoyable experience for everyone.
We regularly see how initiatives like this make a positive difference, giving visitors greater peace of mind and helping our team provide the right support when it’s needed. By recognising the National Disability Card, we’re reinforcing our commitment to inclusivity and ensuring all guests can enjoy their visit feeling respected, supported, and empowered.
We’re delighted to be part of a movement that promotes accessibility and helps create a more inclusive community for all."
Making Days Out Easier
Arranging companion tickets or concessions can often gathering paperwork, carrying sensitive benefit letters or explaining personal circumstances or medical detail to venue staff.
The National Disability Card was created to make that process easier and less intrusive. Today, the card is accepted at more than 600 attractions, venues, leisure centres and organisations across the UK as evidence of eligibility when arranging carer tickets, concessions and other support offered by participating venues.
Every new venue that joins the scheme helps reduce barriers, improve confidence and make planning days out easier for disabled people and their families.
A Growing Network of Recognition
The addition of these 20 venues represents another significant milestone in the growth of the National Disability Card scheme. Director of the National Disability & Carers Card Scheme Edward Herbert commented:
"We're incredibly proud to welcome these fantastic venues to the National Disability Card scheme.
The National Disability Card exists to make accessing support simpler and more consistent for disabled people across the UK. Every new organisation that chooses to recognise the card helps remove barriers and creates a more inclusive experience for our card holders.
From iconic attractions such as London Zoo and Blenheim Palace to popular family destinations like Adventure Island, these new partnerships demonstrate the growing recognition of the National Disability Card across the leisure and events sectors."
