The National Disability & Carers Card Scheme

The National Disability Card and National Carers Card allow quick and easy visual identification of carers and disabled people to help them show that they may require assistance.

The National Disability Card and National Carers Card scheme is a social enterprise for good that was launched by a family that cares for a disabled daughter with cystic fibrosis. We found that many carers and disabled people do not have any suitable identity documents (ID). The National Disability Card and National Carers Card were created in response to this current lack of ID availability in the UK for carers and disabled people. We are a family business based in Suffolk, England and will send your card as soon as your application is successful. We refund any unsuccessful applications immediately.

We are excited to announce that after an incredibly successful show at the NEC in Birmingham, we are planning on exhibiting again in 2024 and look forward to seeing so many of you again soon.

Social Enterprise for Good

We are committed to the following values in our governance document:

  • Diversity and inclusion is imperative. At least 50% of our workforce are people with disabilities. We think differently about disability and take action to improve how we recruit, retain and develop disabled people. We want to ensure that disabled people have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations.

  • Environmentally Conscious. Our manufacturing laboratory is powered by solar and we recycle all of our waste. Additionally, we offer employees green pension funds to help protect the planet.

  • Supporting carers in the workplace. We have a Carers policy to address the needs of people with caring responsibilities and to give carers the ‘right to request’ flexible working. This policy emphasises the benefits of flexible working arrangements, balancing work and personal life and employment breaks.

Proudly supporting His Majesty's Armed Forces

Our dedication is grounded in the belief that members of the Armed Forces Community should not face disadvantages in accessing public and commercial services due to their service. We are committed to making special provisions for those who have given the most, such as the injured or bereaved. Our actions to support this commitment include:

  • Recognising the Contribution of the Armed Forces Community: We acknowledge the invaluable service of personnel, reservists, veterans, cadet movement members, and military families to our organisation, community, and country.

  • Supporting Reserve Forces Employees by Providing Enhanced Leave: We offer 12 additional days of personal leave annually for Reserve Forces training, ensuring our employees can fulfil their training commitments without compromise.

  • Ensuring Support During Mobilisation: We guarantee job security for our reservist employees during their mobilisation and pledge to cover the difference between their military pay and civilian salary, protecting them from financial hardship.

  • Facilitating the Employment of Veterans and Service Leavers: Our recruitment strategy is designed to recognise and value the unique skills, qualifications, and experiences veterans bring to our workforce, enhancing our organisational strength and diversity.

  • Supporting Employees Involved with Ministry of Defence Sponsored Cadet Organisations: We grant an additional 12 days of personal leave annually for employees to engage in training and development courses, encouraging participation in these valuable programmes.

Through these initiatives, we aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment that recognises and honours the service and sacrifices of the Armed Forces Community, fostering their integration and development within our organisation.

Coronation 2023 Blue [Small].png

The Coronation 2023

Over the weekend of 6–8 May 2023, people from across the country came together to celebrate the Coronation with a myriad of special events. Numerous activities were organised by local community groups, organisations, and charities, including The Scouts, Royal Voluntary Service, National Trust, and RNLI. At DisabilityID, we held a range of Coronation celebrations for our team and thoroughly enjoyed the festivities.

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee 2022

In memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who made history as the first British monarch to commemorate 70 years on the throne. Her reign was emblematic of unity and inspiration, resonating with generations to come. We were honoured to participate in the Jubilee celebrations, hosting events that underscored the resilience and spirit of the disabled and caring communities, particularly in light of the challenges presented by the coronavirus pandemic.
